iQOO Z7 Pro Review: Parts of it shine
The iQOO Z7 Pro has a fast processing speed, a wonderful eye-catching design, and a thin profile. While it succeeds in some areas, its camera performance is lacking.
In its most recent launch, iQOO added the Z7 Pro to its Z line. The new model joins the crowded mid-range market. It will be fascinating to see how it compares to its numerous competitors given that it has a strong set of features and the most recent Dimensity 7200 chipset.
Design
Due to the camera module frame and the LED flash, the new iQOO Z7 Pro and the Vivo V27 Pro look quite similar. The phone has a small profile and a stylish design with rounded edges. It provides a cozy and comfortable grip enables simple and extended usage. The rear panel has a lightly shimmering matte texture that not only provides visual appeal but also successfully hides smudges and fingerprints. The phones are splash resistant and have an IP52 rating, adding to their longevity. A big camera module featuring a twin camera system and an LED ring are located on the device's back.
The in-display fingerprint sensor on the Z7 Pro operates with reasonable speed and accuracy. It has a USB Type-C connector at the bottom edge for communication, which may be used for charging and data transfer. A speaker grille and a SIM tray are also located here. On the right side are the volume rockers and the power button.
Display
The Z7 AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, Full HD+ resolution of 1,080x2,400 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120Hz is available on the Pro's 6.78-inch screen. With a peak brightness of 1330 nits and compatibility for HDR10+, it also offers good visibility in bright environments. Vibrant is the standard color profile, but there are additional choices as well. The user interface and compatible apps both perform well with the 120Hz refresh rate, and there is a 1200Hz touch sampling rate for the least amount of lag during screen interaction.
OS
The gadget is powered by the oddly titled FunTouch OS 13, which is based on Android 13. There are a number of pre-installed programs, but you can remove the ones that are unnecessary. The software supports changing icon styles and concealing albums as part of UI customization. Additionally, it has an iManager Cooling a mobile app to stop devices from overheating. An ultra-gaming mode and six motion gestures for enhanced control are available to gamers.
Processor
The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC drives the Z7 Pro. Two Cortex-A715 cores and six Cortex-A510 cores in a two-cluster configuration with a maximum clock speed of 2.8GHz make up this mid-range chipset. The seamless transition between tasks like browsing, social media, gaming, and streaming is made possible by the fact that background programs remain active throughout multitasking. The Z7 Pro handles most games well, making gaming on it a pleasurable experience. Games with HDR graphics and high frame rates, such as BGMI, run smoothly and consistently throughout.
The phone has 8GB of physical RAM, 8GB of virtual RAM on top of that, and storage options of
256 GB or 128 GB. The 256 GB storage model served as our review unit. Unfortunately, there is no room to increase storage.
Camera
The Z7 Pro's camera system doesn't stand out as its best feature, which is where the phone fails. It has a 2MP depth camera in addition to a 64MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The camera captures nice daytime images, and using the HDR setting to increase dynamic range is a good idea. The camera has a quick autofocus and takes good macro pictures. It's important to note that it does not have the predecessor's ultra-wide camera.

The phone has a punch-hole 16MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Its performance is, however, at most mediocre. Selfies taken in daylight tend to have very accurate skin tones, but the nuances of face features could be sharper. The portrait mode is of acceptable quality; the edge recognition on the front and back cameras may be improved.
This is a mistake given its rivalry; other smartphones in this market could provide superior photography performance for about the same price.
Battery
The battery capacity of the gadget has been slightly reduced from its predecessor's 4,700mAh to 4,600mAh. Nevertheless, Even with heavy usage, it easily lasts a whole day thanks to efficient optimization. With 66W fast charging capabilities, it can charge from zero to 100% in under an hour and from 50% to 100% in around 22 minutes.
Verdict
The iQOO Z7 Pro has a fast processing speed, a wonderful eye-catching design, and a thin profile. While it succeeds in some areas, its camera performance is lacking. In the same price range, it is up against tough competition from products like the Realme 11 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. The buyer will compare the advantages against the subpar camera performance.
