Three cameras are believed to be included in the OnePlus 12 when it launches in December; initial speculations included a combination of a 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide, and 64 MP telephoto lens.
Today's leak from Digital Chat Station stated that the zoom lens will contain a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with OIS, while the ultra-wide cam will really have a 48 MP 1/2" sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The 50 MP Sony IMX966 primary sensor is the biggest surprise.
The new Sony sensor will function similarly to the Sony IMX989, a 1"-type imager, according to previous reports from the same source. The smaller size of it will be offset by the double-layer construction enhances sensitivity.
The new sensor will work with OIS and take advantage of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3's advanced computational photography capabilities. Additionally, the 64 MP telephoto camera, which is anticipated to have a 3x optical zoom, will work even better in low light thanks to the new Qualcomm chipset.
According to rumors, the OnePlus 12 will be available starting in early 2024 worldwide after making its premiere in China in December.
