WhatsApp, a messaging app owned by Meta, has revealed Secret Code, an extra security feature for private conversations.

"You'll now be able to set a unique password different from what you use to unlock your phone to give your locked chats an extra layer of privacy," WhatsApp wrote in a blog post.

This new feature will allow users to make the Locked Chats folder invisible from their chatlist, accessible only by entering a secret code into the search bar. The classic Chat Lock function, which was released earlier this year, is still available for users to choose from. Furthermore, WhatsApp Chat is now available as locked without first accessing the chat's settings by long tapping a new conversation.

As of right now, a limited number of users can access the new privacy function; in the upcoming months, it will become available to all users worldwide.

WhatsApp has been enhancing its app with additional privacy features lately. The messaging app for iOS and Android received a Privacy Checkup feature earlier this month, allowing users to monitor and select their desired level of protection all in one location.

WhatsApp users may manage who can contact them, who can see their personal information, who can access their messages and media, and how secure their account is by using a special "Privacy Checkup" tab.

Additionally, WhatsApp has begun to push out a recently added capability that enables callers to conceal their IP addresses. Users can activate the optional "Protect IP address in calls" function by going to the Privacy section of the advanced settings menu.
