The Galaxy S24 |
After many rumors, conjectures, and daily leaks, the Galaxy S24 series has finally released. The trio is, as anticipated, a good but gradual improvement over the S23 models. Today, we'll be looking at the Galaxy S24, the smallest and runt of the upcoming Galaxy phone lineup—a Galaxy tiny, if you will.
Just a quick reminder that we are currently reviewing the Galaxy S24's Exynos variant.

A new matte-finished metal frame and flat Victus 2 panels give the Samsung Galaxy S24 a sleek, even, and updated look. The Galaxy S24 is identical in size to the S23, however it can accommodate a larger 6.2-inch display because of LTPO screen panels into the same area with slimmer bezels.
The Galaxy S24 now has a 6.2-inch LTPO Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen with expanded 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. This is the first upgrade. Peak brightness has increased to 2,600 nits from 1,750 nits on the S23.

The next enhancement is a chipset upgrade, and hardware fragmentation is back! In the majority of nations, the S24 uses the Exynos 2400 chipset, which has a 10-core CPU and a new AMD GPU; in the US, Canada, and China, however, it uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. For the global model, the S24 comes in two storage variants: 128GB UFS 3.1 and 256GB UFS 4.0, both with 8GB of RAM. Limited edition, 512GB available additionally in certain nations.

From the S23, the entire camera equipment has been removed. A 50MP OIS primary, a 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide imager are the three imagers located in the back. Selfie capture will be handled by a 12MP front camera with autofocus.

The battery's capacity has grown from 3,900mAh to 4,000mAh, but its charging capacities—25W cable, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless—have not changed.

Since there are no UFS 4.0 chips available for capacities this large, we had thought Samsung would discontinue the 128GB base version of the Galaxy S24. This variant is still only capable of 25W of charging, and it lacks Ultra Wideband. While none of them is a deal-breaker, they would have made excellent little improvements to the specification document.
Samsung Galaxy S24 unboxing
Of course, the environmentally friendly retail packaging is here to stay. A SIM extraction tool and a 3A USB-C-C cable are included with the Galaxy S24 combo.
For the Galaxy S24, the pre-order marketing featured a transparent casing and a 25W fast charger, at the very least. Better yet, for those who pre-ordered, Samsung was offering the 256GB variant for the same price as the 128GB model.
